Today I wanted to talk a little about newborn lifestyle sessions and share a slideshow (click to view in full screen) from one of my very favorite newborn sessions. Scroll down to view the video and read more about why I love photographing newborns in their own homes.
Have you ever wondered what a newborn photography session that takes place at your own home looks like? Are you concerned that we won’t be able to get those sweet sleepy images? Maybe you have visions of posed shots that you want of your own little one? Or maybe you’re afraid that your home won’t lend itself well to a photo session? Take a look at the video below for a sample of images that were captured at a recent newborn lifestyle session at the client’s home.

What do you want to remember about those first days as new parents? There are so many little moments, so many new things that you want to make sure that you never forget. You want to remember how tiny your newborn looks when in his crib…before you know it he will be standing at those rails after naptime begging to get out. As you rock your little one to sleep during those midnight feedings in the rocking chair in the corner you’ll think ahead to what his future will bring. Someday soon you’ll hear the sound of his little bare feet running through the hall as he bursts into your bedroom on Saturday morning. One day you’ll all snuggle on your bed together reading a bedtime book or saying your goodnight prayers. These days will be here before you know it.
He won’t remember being so tiny as you held him tightly marveling at those sleepy little grins. These first days at home will go by in a blur. And some of those days might be rough. Maybe even all of them. You’re new at this (even if it’s not your first baby…as I know each of mine were so very different) and being a new mama and family has quite the learning curve.
Scheduling your newborn session to take place within those first 10 days of his life is important in getting the images that you’re looking for in a newborn session. If you want your session at my in home studio, it is available for you. But if you don’t…I can come to you. Sometimes leaving the house within those first days is very difficult. I know it was for me. When you schedule your newborn session we will discuss ideas…but you’re still pregnant at this time. You don’t know what is ahead of you and sometimes plans change. As your photographer, I want to make this part of your first days as a new mama easier on you. Let me come to you. You don’t have to wash the dishes, you don’t have to do your laundry. It might look like I’m moving in, but I will bring the items we need to get those sleepy posed shots that you may want and we will use treasures in your own home to add to those items for images that are truly personal to you and your family.
Remember that you have options when scheduling your newborn photography session and I’m here to make things as easy on you as I can. You’ve doing the hard part, you’re bringing that baby into the world. Let the rest of us make your life a little easier.
