My family has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my brother in law (my husband’s brother) and wife’s new baby boy. We knew he would be arriving in December and it was pretty likely that he would join us early. My husband was out of town and the kids and I were at swim practice (of course) when I got the call from my mother in law that my sister in law was going into Labor and Delivery for a status check. After we arrived home we got the text from my brother in law that the baby was in fact coming that evening. The kids and I got in the car and headed down to pick up my father in law and head to the hospital to join the rest of the family. We arrived at the waiting room not long after the soon to be parents headed into the OR for the surgery. We all sat in the waiting room…and waited. And waited. This was the first time since my cousin had her baby years ago that I’d been on this side of things. The kids were getting restless, but soon enough my brother in law let us know that it was time to come see the newest member of the family. The grandparents all headed down first and then we were motioned that we could head back. It was so great seeing my sister in law with her new baby boy in her arms. She and my brother in law had waited so long for this day and I was so happy for them that it was finally here. I’ve already taken the newborn photos and I’ll be posting those tomorrow, but tonight I wanted to share my view of that evening while we waited for the newest Owens to be born.
