With the last few weeks being pretty busy and a very busy summer on the horizon we were able to spend a nice relaxing Memorial Day at home this year. We got a start on our garden and made some progress on the yard work and weeding…my least favorite thing to do. After working out there for a bit and seeing the progress we were making, I started getting a little excited about our yard and the garden and the fun we can have out there this summer. Today we’re dealing with some pretty crazy rain and thunderstorms that are stalling my progress, so hopefully I don’t lose my mojo before the sun comes back out 🙂
While we were in London (pics to come, it was an amazing trip!) my mom stayed at the house with the kids and they all had a great time. I’m so grateful to have a mom that can come and watch the kids and just settle into their routine with them. I know it’s tough and we lead a pretty busy schedule, but she was able to handle it pretty well. One of the activities that they had fun with while we were gone was planting flowers. My mom loves plants and flowers and I think it is so cool that they were able to share that with her. She got them each their own pot and let them plant their choice of the flowers that they loved.
Our garden is coming along…well…one of them, anyway. We have this corner garden that we put in a couple years ago and we’re excited to get it up and running again this season. Tomatoes and lettuce and cucumbers and peppers and green beans and squash and more. I even bought a blueberry plant. We’re hoping for a productive summer…I just need to get rid of a few more weeds (ok, a lot more weeds). I also need to finish painting that fence. It’s on my long list of things to do.
I’m expecting lots of hours logged at the pool and swim meets as well as bandaids on knees and bike rides and cartwheels and back bends. And probably a few more thunderstorms just like today. Eight more days of school for my three littles, counting today. Bring it on, Summer…we’re ready.
