After short course wrapped up in March, the season was over and we went off to spring break with hopes of a letter arriving for my youngest with his official offer to join the team. We got that letter mid week via email and we were thrilled! He was so excited to finally be able to practice with the team, and although he had been recognized as an honorary member of the team at the banquet (because he had been swimming in the meets with the team), he was so happy to be an official part of the team. And as his mom, I was really proud – and happy to have our practice time at the pool cut down by 45 minutes (due to the overlapping practice times of the swim team and the precomp team). This happiness lasted for about a day. Because the next day my oldest son got his very own letter – he would be moving up to another team which would mean that he would now be practicing two hours a day. And although I was so very proud of him it hit me that we were now back to our two hours a day at the pool. But guess what? I kind of love it. I love that my children have found something that they are passionate about. I love that they do so well with this sport. I love that they set goals and strive to reach them. I love seeing them work hard and I love that they are proud of themselves when they see that hard work pay off. This past weekend was their first meet of the long course season and they all did great. I could see the improvement from all three of them with all of the hard work they had been putting in.
Such fantastic shots, Carrie! I especially love the first and the b/w. Gorgeous!
Thanks, Erica!!
I LOVE this blog and the photos! I want you to take some photos of my kids like these; they’re wonderful! I’ll talk to you at the pool about setting something up when you’re available (as if!).
Thank you, Claire!
