My oldest son…and husband…have been waiting for this day for a long time. We’re a big football family here, but we’ve held our oldest out of tackle football for as long as we could. We encouraged flag football, but weren’t very excited about him being an x-man in tackle football (because of his size he would be unable to play certain positions and we really wanted him to be able to learn all aspects of the game). This spring, the wait is over and he has joined a local team and he is quickly learning the many differences between flag football and tackle. And he loves it. I was worried that I would be a wreck in the stands, but I was more proud and excited than worried. After just a few short weeks of practice he played in his first game…and he’s been smiling ever since. He’ll still be joining his brother and sister in the racing pool, and that training has served him well. Both coaches have been very supportive of his commitments to the sports (and luckily for me, practices are both close!)
These pictures are great!!! It seems so weird to see him playing – he just can’t be that old yet:) Can’t wait to see his game when I get there.
