I know it’s silly to say it, but it’s true. So often high school senior guys will do anything that they can to get out of doing senior photos – but trust me…it’s worth it. This handsome guy is someone that I had known since he was a young swimmer but he had moved to a different pool. His mom found some of my swimmer images online and contacted me for a shoot – not even realizing that we once had known each other. It was so great to get him into the studio for a session (don’t worry…we got swimmer photos too, check back later this week!) and he warmed up so quickly and was a natural in front of the camera. It’s crazy to me to be photographing these kids that I once knew as young kids…time moves far too quickly.
I often get asked when the best time for senior photos is…and it’s really different for everyone. The biggest thing that I tell people is that you don’t want to put it off too long, because once you do…it’s easy to just let it go and forget about it. You want this time documented because before you know it they are off doing their own thing and the next photos you’ll get of them might just be on their wedding day. If your child participates in sports that you want to document we need to talk about times that we can make that happen – pool time is difficult in the winter and if you’re wanting your football player in uniform on the field in spring, we might have trouble making that happen. I’m always happy to split sessions as well so that we can accommodate what you need to ensure that we get the images you and your senior want. The best thing to do is contact me before or at the beginning of the senior year so that we can start planning, even if your session doesn’t happen until spring.
