Once you’ve got that winter session scheduled…what do you wear? Below is a great example of a coordinated family that isn’t overly matchy-matchy. The group lends itself to a great look when everyone is together as well as good pairings and individual shots. Please remember to take a look at past what to wear ideas because even if the clothing isn’t what you have in mind or if you’re a family of 7 instead of an engaged couple – there are still great ideas on colors palettes and pattern mixing.

Today’s what to wear idea is for a family of three, but remember, many of these ideas can be tailored for your particular family structure. And also, I’m more than happy to talk with you before your session to help with the ever daunting what to wear question that comes from families after booking their session. Not to worry…I’m here to help. And if you show up with a suitcase at your session, rest assured, you’re definitely not the first and won’t be the last. I love that part of my job and  am happy to help!

I love the vintage look here in these clothes and love that there are layers and accessories as well. Accessories really help give an image depth and character, so don’t be shy about wearing a new necklace or scarf, a flower in your daughter’s hair. We can use these items to give your images variety as well as adding and removing layers.

We can get that checked off too. Once you’ve got that session scheduled, are you trying to come up with ideas on how to style your session from a clothing standpoint? Just not sure what you all should wear? Wondering if you should all match or just coordinate? Wondering if you should get dressed up or stay casual? The biggest thing I tell my clients to remember is to wear something that is comfortable – especially for kids. Nothing gets a cute happy kid grouchier faster than an outfit that they’re pulling at or that mom or dad has to keep adjusting. Wear something that reflects you as a family and as a person…these images should be treasured for years if not generations to come, you want them to be a true representation of who you were at this point in your life.
