This sweet girl has the most beautiful big brown eyes and I’ve always loved taking her school photos and usually have such a hard time narrowing her selection down. The afternoon was chilly but the skies were clear and blue and the light was gorgeous. We were able to get some great shots of each of the kids and several family images as well as some fun playing in the leaves shots.

Mom and I were checking the weather everyday…seeing rain, rain, rain. We talked about rescheduling, we talked about other locations. But in the end, we dared it not to rain. And the weather held :)

I loved this image of the four of them together. Not the typical everyone smiling and looking. Mom and dad smiling and talking, big sis posing and looking on while little sis is content to be in moms arms.

They were some of my first clients and I have seen them every so often for a family shoot ever since their first shoot…maternity. I remember their dog the first time we met, sweet Toby, my favorite Beagle dog. I remember meeting an excited mom and dad to be as they were getting ready to bring their baby into their home. And meeting little baby c and seeing him every few months for additional sessions has been such a joy to watch him grow. Each time we meet, he’s always a little cautious, but this time he was eager to show me his legos (which, by the way, were awesome duplo Cars legos…I want some!)

He and his dog are such good buddies, it’s fun to see them cuddle and to see how very patient Toby is with his best human buddy.

It was such a treat to see how baby c had grown in just the two short months that I had been there to photograph him after his birth. He is so loved by his older brother who just wants to cuddle and love on his younger brother and do anything he can to help his mom out. And who wouldn’t want to help out with a baby brother as cute as this little guy??

We had just had a big snowstorm the night before and the girls were super excited to head outdoors for part of their session in their adorable coats…I want that plaid coat for myself, although I doubt it would be nearly as cute on me! :) I love meeting clients in their homes for sessions as I feel that it lends such a personal dimension to their images. These girls were such fun and I’m looking forward to getting to know this sweet family even better…sending a little gobble, gobble to Miss A :)

Summer is great, Spring is nice (although usually short) and Fall is gorgeous (although also shorter than I would like) but Winter brings the snow. There is nothing more fun than sitting inside all cozy and warm and seeing the snow fall out the window…especially knowing that the roads will be plowed. And speaking of that, I love waking up in the night seeing the yellow flashes of the lights against the darkness of my bedroom and hearing the rumble of the snow plows driving down our street…it means we got a great snow while I slept! Snow is also great for building snowmen and snow forts, snowball fights and skiing. The kids were super excited to get the shovels out and clear the driveway…they were even fighting over who got one of our two shovels…but after clearing one or two strips each, they were all done and were happy to give the shovels back to me. Each winter we contemplate splurging and getting a snow blower and although shoveling isn’t really a whole ton of fun, I’m glad that we have resisted. It’s good exercise and soon enough we’ll get those kids shoveling  without complaints (ok…that may be wishful thinking).
