thursday three things | I love my job.
Thursday, March 4th, 2010Last night as I was finishing up editing some newborn photos and moving onto another set I realized that my mind was racing…I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I really love what I’m doing. It was late, the kids were already asleep, I had some DVR’d shows (American Idol) that I needed and really wanted to watch…but I didn’t want to stop doing what I was doing to go into the other room to relax. I was thinking about the shoots that I have planned for next week – including a 2 day shoot at a school that I am so very excited about, and the shoots that I have in my mind that I want to do and I realized that I was just so excited about them.
I know that I am very lucky to have the opportunity that I do to live out my dreams and be a photographer. I know that I’m lucky that I have my three kids who are willing (most of the time) to model for me, test out locations for shoots and try out some of the ideas I have floating around in my head. I know that I’m lucky that I have a super supportive husband who encourages me and pushes me to be the best me that I can be. I’m lucky for the amazing clients that I’ve met and been able to get glimpses into their lives.
I think that before I go on too long about all this, I’m going to stop and show three photos of a recent newborn session for my Thursday Three Things of the week. If you ‘d like to see more of this sweet family check out their maternity session and a sweet peek at their baby here.

There is a new contest here at carrieowensphotography for the babies and children in our lives. Book a newborn, baby or child (or family!) session to be held anytime between now and June 10th and we will select one image per child per session to enter into the Miller’s Professional Imaging Baby and Child Contest. Wednesday, December 30th, 2009This post is in follow up to a popular entry from November answering the always present “What do I wear?” question. This shows that it’s ok that you don’t have outfits that “match” or that you think go together. Because if you pull together outfits that are similar in style, meaning all casual, all dressy, all in jewel tones, etc…you can pull of some great looks.
This example shows a more colorful example of coordinating outfits than the previous version which showed a more monochromatic styling. Both are great, but this example shows that you don’t have to be matching to look great together. A outfit grouping like the one above highlights the people and their personalities and creates a great pulled together look for your images.

In these photos he is just a day over one month and is quite the little cutie! Thank you, B Family for allowing me to photograph your sweet boy…I think after much trying to get him to sleep, we got some really great shots!
